     Al Owens is a retired Escondido Police Lieutenant and USMC Veteran with more than 20 years of experience in planning, managing and training. Mr. Owens has an extensive background as a college public safety instructor (16 years), arrest and control/use of force instructor (18 years) and emergency manager. He has served as an Incident Commander and Public Information Officer for several high profile events, including homicides, fatal hit and run accidents, barricaded suspects and officer involved shootings.

    Owens possesses a Bachelor’s Degree in Leadership and is a graduate of the California POST Management School. Owens’ specialties are safety awareness, self-defense, active shooter, and workplace violence training. In addition to his numerous police certifications, he is a graduate of the Gavin De Becker Threat Assessment Academy and he is a certified Active Shooter Instructor through the ALICE Academy. Owens has a strong passion and uncompromising devotion for keeping people safe. This is evident when he teaches a class. Owens has taught safety and survival tactics to more than 3,000 people, including children, adults and businesses. His trainings are interesting and informative.
